Veedersburg - Charles WIlliam Cowan, oldest male resident of this community, died at noon Tuesday in the Rudisill Nursing Home at Covington. He was 94. He had been in failing health the last 3 years and in the nuring home since last October. Born near Waynetown, Sept 13, 1870, he was a son of John and Mary Abbot Cowan. He was married to Lydia Knapp July 1, 1896. She died March 22, 1944. Mr. Cowan lived in Veedersburg 53 years and was a horiculturist. He was a member of the Bailiff Baptist Church, West Union, Ill and Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors include a son, Jesse A. Cowan of Danville, Ill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are announced for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fishero Funeral Home Rev. James Dyson will be minister. Burial will be in the Bailiff Cemetery, West Union. Friends may call at the funeral home at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
